Meet Jonathan Robbins

Jonathan Robbins is a career prosecutor, community leader, and dedicated public servant seeking election as a San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge. With nearly two decades of experience in the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, Jonathan has built a record of principled, ethical prosecution and deep commitment to the safety of the community that has been his lifelong home.

Jonathan’s approach to the law is grounded in a clear and abiding principle: our courts must be fair and just for everyone. The integrity of the justice system requires the law to be correctly enforced, that every person be heard, the guilty must held accountable while the innocent are freed. There must always be access to justice for all. This philosophy reflects the values instilled in him by his family and his faith which has been reinforced through nearly two decades of service to this community.

Jonathan and his wife have been happily married for 14 years. They have four children, and are proud residents of San Bernardino County, where they are deeply rooted in the fabric of their community.

Education and Experience

Jonathan has lived his entire life in this community. He attended grade school in Ontario before graduating from Montclair High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Riverside, and his Juris Doctor from Chapman University School of Law, where he received the CALI Award for Trial Practice and Negotiations.

After earning his law degree, Jonathan joined the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office in 2008, where he has served our community as a prosecutor for eighteen years. He has tried numerous criminal cases from various categories of crime, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, carjacking, shooting from a motor vehicle, drug trafficking, street terrorism, and domestic violence.

In 2016, Jonathan was promoted to lead deputy of the Hardcore Gang Prosecution Unit, where he oversaw a team of attorneys handling the county’s most significant gang and homicide cases. He successfully prosecuted several complex gang murder cases as a trial lawyer in this role.

Since 2019, Jonathan has served as a Supervising Deputy District Attorney, managing prosecutors across multiple units including Major Crimes, Misdemeanor Trials, Preliminary Hearings, Mental Health Court, Drug Court, Veterans Court, and Shelter Court. He also supervises the office’s legal interns and law clerks.

Jonathan has earned a reputation throughout the legal community for thorough, ethical prosecution. He is widely recognized for his expertise and dedication to developing the next generation of attorneys. He regularly instructs at the District Attorney’s New Prosecutor Academy, teaches recurring seminars on new criminal legislation, and has organized countywide training sessions for numerous law enforcement agencies.

In 2024, he graduated from the National Judicial College’s Judicial Academy — a prestigious program that further prepared him for the responsibilities of being a judge. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Western San Bernardino County Bar Association.

Community Involvement

Jonathan’s commitment to San Bernardino County extends well beyond the courtroom. His passion for developing the next generation of leaders is displayed in his commitment to the youth of this community.

Since 2010, he has coached the Mock Trial team at Rancho Cucamonga High School, mentoring hundreds of students through the program over sixteen years. Some of his former students are practicing attorneys impacting their communities and many others are now pursuing careers in law. Jonathan is also an active youth sports coach, having coached numerous children in flag football and basketball, coaching year around since 2021.

For many years, Jonathan has been a community speaker for the Fontana Leadership Intervention Program (FLIP), presenting to at-risk youth on topics including substance abuse, anger management, gang intervention, juvenile delinquency, and the roles of justice partners. He participates actively in his church community, including as a longtime Sunday School teacher.

Jonathan Robbins has spent his entire career — and his entire life — in service to San Bernardino County. As a judge, he will bring the same work ethic, fairness, and dedication to the bench that has defined his years as a prosecutor, a mentor, and a neighbor. He is ready to serve.

On or before Tuesday, June 2, vote Jonathan Robbins for Superior Court Judge.
